Conserving Australia’s Marine Environment: Key Directions Statement

"Australia is an island continent, our land is ‘girt by sea’ and the health and productivity of those seas are critical to our nation’s future.

The next decade should be one of continuing progress in all aspects of marine conservation at local, state, territory and national level and Australia should maintain and increase its leadership in marine conservation and management in our region and beyond. Many elements of Australian society stand ready to contribute to the achievement of that goal."
