As part of a desire to have an Oceania focus for IUCN CEM activities CEM ONG are now launching a webinar series on a range of CEM themed topics of interest and relevance to our members across Oceania. The first in this series will feature the new Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions and how it can be best applied across the Pacific. This first webinar has been a collaboration between CEM ONG, The Regional IUCN office in Fiji and the Nature-based Solutions Thematic Group.

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are a powerful ally to address societal challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and food security. As the world strives to emerge from the current pandemic and move towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it is imperative that future investments in nature reach their potential by contributing to the health and well-being of people and the planet. Nowhere are these current and competing challenges more real than the Pacific.

This webinar will feature presentations from the team from IUCN involved in the development and release of the Global NbS standards, as well as a series of case studies from across Oceania. Each presentation will explore the eight criteria that make up the Global NbS standard and how they can be used in a range of applications including the development of new projects, upscaling pilots, and assessing past projects and future proposals. The webinar will provide a forum for members to pose questions to the NbS team on how the Global NbS could be used to support their own work programs.

This webinar is intended for IUCN CEM members and other interested stakeholders from across the region including representatives of Government, companies, or NGOs.
