Assurance for the IUCN Green List sustainability standard is required

IUCN is now seeking to secure our assurance provider for the Green List through the next quadrennial period, 2020 to 2024. The Assurance Provider would help maintain and deliver a credible and transparent evaluation process and governance framework for the IUCN Green List.

IUCN has developed a robust assurance procedure for implementing the IUCN Green List Sustainability Standard. Good assurance boosts the credibility of the evaluation process and guarantees that a ‘Green List’ area is one that is genuinely delivering success for people and nature, including verified contributions to biodiversity conservation and climate change turnaround.

The IUCN Green List is developed according to the ISEAL codes of good practice in standard setting and measuring impact. Since the initial launch of the pilot results at the 2014 Sydney World Parks Congress, IUCN works with many countries to implement the Green List, including France, China, Kenya, Colombia, Mexico and Madagascar. Through trial and feedback, the Standard and User Manual continue to evolve.
