Announcement: Conference of Judges and Prosecutors on Water Justice at the 8th World Water Forum

The World Commission on Environmental Law is leading preparations for the Conference of Judges and Prosecutors on Water Justice during the 8th World Water Forum taking place from 18-23 March in Brasilia, Brazil.

Over 140 distinguished senior justices, environmental prosecutors, law professors, and scientists from around the world will participate in the Conference of Judges and Prosecutors on Water Justice from 19-21 March during the 8th World Water Forum. WCEL is proud to convene this historical gathering with partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, the Ministry of Environment of Brazil, the World Water Council, UN Environment, the Organization of American States, and the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment. The conference is a unique opportunity during the Forum to promote interaction and sharing of expertise to address current challenges and provide innovative legal solutions to problems involving water and water use. Planned activities of the Subprocess include:

  • A variety of thematic sessions
  • The 1st WCEL Internaitonal Water Justice Moot Court
  • A Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on the Global Pact for the Environment
  • Approval of the "Brasilia Declaration of Judges on Water Justice"
