Busitema University was established as a Public University under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (Establishment of Busitema University) Instrument 2007 No. 22 made on the 25th day of May 2007, having been enacted by Parliament of Uganda on the 10th of May 2007. It was established as a multi-campus model with its main campus located at Busitema, Busia district. The University was established as a multi-campus model with its main campus located at Busitema.The University opened its doors to the first cohort of on 3rd October 2007. The University has 6 operational Campuses at Arapai, Busitema, Mbale, Nagongera, Namasagali and Pallisa. The University’s niche is practical sciences, relevant technology, productive education and innovation for sustainable development. It opened its doors to the first cohort of students at Busitema and Nagongera Campuses on 3rd October 2007.Faculty of Science and Education is located in Nagongera campus. It was officially inaugurated on 29th November 2009, and held the first graduation ceremony on 3rd October 2010.
