Friends of Nature Association

Started in 1972, FON constitutes the first NGO dedicated for the valuing and preservation of the natural assets and resources of Lebanon. The perseverance of the founding members, initiated on the love and response to nature through the founder and inspirer Dr. Ricardus Haber, led to government acknowledgment in 1984 with an official decree. FON fathered the environmental movement in Lebanon creating national awareness to the significance of our natural assets and their integral role in any sustainable rational development for the country, as well as engaging in environmental activism to safeguard these assets. FON also played a pivotal role at instituting the care for the environment.
