Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco
Fundación Jocotoco, an Ecuadorian NGO, has been working since 1999 to protect land of critical importance for the
conservation of Ecuador’s endangered birds and associated biodiversity through acquiring land and managing them as
biological reserves. To date, Jocotoco has established a system of ten biological reserves that protect more than 15,000
hectares (37,100 acres) across a wide range of ecosystems from páramo to tropical rain forest. Jocotoco has also
developed a habitat restoration program with native species, supports scientific research within its reserves and maintains
good relations with local communities.
