The Environmental Leaders Summit of Latin America will bring together hundreds of young people to raise awareness about climate change and the importance of global climate action to protect the planet for future generations. This virtual event will be the final stage of the 2021 "Environmental Leaders" Program and will launch their collaborative network between leaders and groups that carry out socio-environmental projects in their territories. Those projects are focused on addressing environmental problems and mitigating the effects of climate change. Dr. Jane Goodall, Honorary Member of IUCN, will be part of this event that will be broadcast through the Jane Goodall Institute Argentina’s channels (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter).

Partnerships that promote knowledge transfer

The CEC strengthens partnerships that promote knowledge transfer across generations, genders, cultures, organisations and geographies, and in as many languages as possible. In line with this approach, the Commission and the Jane Goodall Institute Argentina assigned 200 places for CEC and IUCN members to participate in the Environmental Leaders Program 2021. This year, more than 1,500 Young people, teachers and community leaders from more than 30 countries around the world participated and were trained through the “Environmental Leaders Program” and “Hope in Action” of the Jane Goodall Argentina Institute. Both initiatives are part of their Roots & Shoots educational program.

The mission to inspire individual action

Founded by Dr. Goodall in 1977, and based in Argentina since 2011, the Jane Goodall Institute is a non-profit organization with the mission of inspiring individual action and empowering people to act in favor of a fairer and more sustainable world, with special attention to great primates and other living beings. Within its Roots & Shoots educational program, the Institute develops teachers and community leaders’ trainings, activities with children and young people to raise their awareness, interest and appreciation of Nature as well as respect for all forms of life, committing to its care and preservation. The Institute also collaborates with existing conservation and research projects, both in Argentina and in Africa, and carries out various campaigns related to environmental conservation, sustainable development and peace.
