More than 30 forest communication experts will meet from May 30^th to June 1^st in Malaga, to discuss and compare their experiences on communicating the issues forests face and adaptation to climate change in Europe and in other regions of the world.

This annual meeting of the European Forest Communicators Network, promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), with the aim of improving the capacity of the forestry sector to communicate its activities and products more effectively within and outside its scope. This network was established more than 20 years ago and has more than 220 members from 38 countries and international organizations. This year's annual meeting is organized in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Malaga.

The opening of the event, in which will participate the general director of Management of the Natural Environment and Protected Areas of the Junta de Andalucía, Francisco Javier Madrid, the deputy of Environment and Promotion of the Territory of The Diputación de Málaga, Marina Bravo, the director of the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, Antonio Troya, and the spokesman for the UNECE / FAO Forest Communicators Network, Ingwald Gschwandtl, will take place on May 29^th at 9:00 am.

A visit to the Sierra Nevada National Park is planned in order to learn more about the activities of the Life ADAPTAMED project, which is an initiative led by the Junta de Andalucía, dedicated to forest management and adaptation to climate change in the Mediterranean.

The meeting is held at the facilities of La Noria (C / Arroyo de los Ángeles 50) provided by the Diputación de Málaga.

Participation in this Network is open to all the people who share a concern for the common goals and tasks of the Forest Communicators Network. It also explores, in a collaborative way, innovative communication approaches to increase understanding of the importance of forests and their proper management for life on earth.
