Explore protected areas through sounds with 'Sounds of Your Park'

The WCPA, the George Wright Society, the US National Park Service, Parks Canada and the Colorado State University's Sound and Light Ecology Team invite you to experience nature from your home, and then share your quality recordings. The goal is to build a global collection of natural and cultural sounds from the planet’s protected places.

During the coronavirus pandemic, people around the world are doing their part to prevent the spread of the disease by staying at home and practicing social distancing. But that doesn’t mean you can’t experience nature.

A new way to immerse yourself in nature is through Sounds of Your Park, an audio experience of the planet’s protected places.

With more than 30 protected areas already featured, this collaborative effort with #NatureForAll aims to inspire everyone to engage with our natural and cultural heritage, and foster meaningful connections with our parks and protected areas.

Catch a dawn chorus along the Limpopo River in the Mmabolela Conservancy in South Africa, spend a night along a bayou in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Louisiana, U.S.A., or experience a Mayan ceremony at the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
