The aim of this programme is to strengthen the capacities of emerging civil society organizations (CSOs) in North Africa so that they can develop in the short term concrete field initiatives contributing to the preservation of the global environment. and to contribute in the medium term to the implementation of national strategies and policies on biodiversity, and the fight against climate change in the four involved countries (Algeria, Libya, Morooco and Tunisia).

The PPI-OSCAN 2 initiative has the following four objectives:

• Support for field projects related to biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of natural resources and the fight against climate change;
• Strengthening the administrative, financial and technical capacity of CSOs;
• Networking of CSOs and their participation in forums for dialogue with governments;
• Capitalization and dissemination of experiences at the national and regional levels.

The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med) based in Malaga, Spain, is in charge of the implementation of the Small-scale Initiatives Programme for Civil Society Organizations in North Africa (PPI-OSCAN 2 financed by the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) and the MAVA Foundation.

It should be noted that the deadline for submission of the project-summary document is 30 August 2018.
